Learn how to identify which generation of AirPods you have using the model number and other details.

Find the model number

You can use the model number of your AirPods to find out which generation of AirPods you have. Here’s how to find the model number.

Look in Settings

If your AirPods are connected to your iOS device, you can use it to get the model number of your AirPods:

1. Go to Settings > General > About.

2. Scroll down until you see the name of your AirPods (for example, “buyphone’s AirPods”).

3. Tap the name, and you’ll see the model number.

Look on your AirPods

 

If you can’t use Settings to get your model number, you can find it on either of your AirPods. The model number is on the first line of the text printed on the underside of each AirPod.

Identify your AirPods with the model number

Now that you have the model number, you can use it to learn which AirPods you have:

AirPods Pro

Model number: A2084, A2083
Year introduced: 2019

AirPods (2nd generation)

Model Number: A2032, A2031
Year introduced: 2019

AirPods (1st generation)

Model number: A1523, A1722
Year introduced: 2017
