iPhone 18: its price could rise again in 2027

A new rumour points to a more expensive iPhone 18. What is confirmed, what is not, and what it means if you buy in Belgium.

In short

Apple has announced neither the price nor the date of the iPhone 18. A rumour from 3 November 2026 points to an increase, with no figure. What is established: the iPhone 17 already went up by $100 in the US in September 2026, and costs €1,119 in Belgium today.

What the rumour says

On 3 November 2026, the leaker Digital Chat Station posted several details about the standard iPhone 18 on Weibo, picked up the same day by MacRumors and 9to5Mac: a larger battery than the iPhone 17, an A20 chip built on a 2 nm process like the A20 Pro, and a launch in the first half of 2027 alongside the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2.

On price, the source stays cautious: the iPhone 18 “could” cost more than the iPhone 17. No figure is given, and the post does not say which price it compares with. Both MacRumors and 9to5Mac describe this as speculation.

Why the price could rise: memory

It would not be the first time. On 9 September 2026, as it launched the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple raised the US prices of the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone Air and iPhone 17e by $100. The iPhone 17, launched at $799 in September 2025, went up to $899.

The cause is the cost of memory and storage, pushed up by demand from data centres built for artificial intelligence. In June, Tim Cook told The Wall Street Journal that Apple could no longer absorb these increases. And according to DigiTimes, cited by Macworld, Apple has agreed to pay more for the memory Samsung will supply in early 2027, the year of the iPhone 18.

Current prices in Belgium

On the Belgian Apple Store, the iPhone 17 starts at €1,119 with 256 GB, and €1,369 with 512 GB (prices checked on 3 November 2026). The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max start at €1,479 and €1,629, according to Apple’s press release for Belgium.

Our take: the iPhone 18 will most likely sit between these two reference points. A price below today’s iPhone 17 looks unlikely, but nothing allows a figure for Belgium yet.

What remains uncertain

Apple has confirmed neither the iPhone 18, nor its release date, nor its price. Macworld also says it is too early to tell whether Apple will raise the price, or by how much. Some reports even mention manufacturing savings on this model, precisely to limit the increase.

A US price does not translate directly into euros either: VAT, exchange rates and Apple’s European pricing all play a part. We will only quote a Belgian price once Apple publishes it.

Buy now or wait?

Our advice: if your iPhone still suits you, there is no rush. The first standard iPhone 18 models are not expected before spring 2027, and their price will be known then.

If you need to upgrade now, the iPhone 17 price is known, and it already includes the September increase. As for accessories, a good USB-C charger and cable will stay useful with the next generation, whichever model you choose.
